STOPFIRE® FIRE EXTINQUSING AND EXPLOSION SYSTEM
Fire extinguishing and explosion suppression system is intended to protect the crew and the engine compartments of combat vehicles. The system includes optical heads, thermal sensors, a central station controlling operation of the system and an extinguishing unit. The task of the optical heads includes crew compartment monitoring and reaction only in situations, in which four phenomena are present inside their field of vision: cumulation jet, high temperature body, flame and fuel explosion.
Only ca. 150 ms pass between the fire detection and the extinguishing.
System properties make it suitable for use in applications, which require high detection probability of an emerging hazard with simultaneous guarantee of very fast system reaction. The system is characterized by a relatively low rate of false alarms and high efficiency of operation, making it better than currently known global solutions.
